Is 4 an Unlucky Number?

The Deadly 4?
In today times, real estate investment will usually appreciate over time, and more and more people are using these as an investment instrument to grow their wealth, or as their dream home for own stay.

For apartment, whether high or low rise, many will favour floor levels or units numbers like 6, 8, etc. However, any floor levels or units that have number 4 or ending with 4, most will shy away from these properties, or the take-up rate of these units are usually low.

4 and its affinity with Floor level and House number
So is 4 an Unlucky Number?
In my opinion, 4 is not necessary bad. In the Chinese community, 4 is sounded like death’ (), but it has nothing to do with Classical Feng Shui. The bad reputation that 4 has is owing to the cultural beliefs and superstition, just like some westerners will not like 13, and probably 6 because of cultural or religious beliefs.

Are you aware that Indian numerology and Vedic astrology regard 4 as an intelligence numbers? In Chinese metaphysics, 4 is also a good representation as well.

In Xuan Kong Flying Stars (玄空飞星), 4 is usually regarded as an Academic number; a number that represents academic matters. If a house layout has a number combination of 4 and 1 in a sector within the house, then it could be a great place to have your study or workroom in this area, and usually this commonly known as the Academic Sector or 'Wen-Chang Wei" (文昌位). This is particularly good for residents with school-going children as it favors scholastic and academic pursuits.

4 could also represent peach blossom or romance characteristics with the presence of some water. In addition, it could also foster better interpersonal relationship. Hence, this would also favour those working or businesses relating to Public Relation, Sales and Marketing.

Using a 5RM South facing Home as an illustration, this unit has the 4-1 combination in the Living/Dining and Bedroom2, and these 2 areas could support scholarly achievements, and it benefits students and researchers. Relationships would also improve when water is "properly installed".

So don’t misunderstood 4, and give it a chance….

How to Select a Suitable Floor for your Dream Home?

In Feng Shui, many if not most have heard about a Chinese saying: 宅命相配It means a good affinity between the house and the occupants, with an objective to best support their life endeavors with the living home. To some, this will be ideal for those currently hunting for a dream home for own stay or considering renting a choice home for a short period of time.

I'm Renting. So does this matters to me?
Some will say that they are not the homeowners and just renting the property for a lease, so it is important to select a good unit during their stay? In Feng Shui, it really does not matter who is the homeowner of the property, but it does matter and will affect those who are staying in the property.
Buildings and their various elemental resembles
Choosing the Right Building?
When selecting your choice home, the first level of personalization is to ensure that you have picked the right building based on its elemental shape, different shape of building denotes different elements. The five elements are Metal, Wood, Water, Fire and Earth. As building can be regarded as a container of Qi or energy, hence it would “store” these elemental energies.

Example #1:
If the building is tall and like a tree truck, then it can be considered as a wood-element building, and is suitable for those in the development, fashion, education business or career relating to this trade.

Example #2:
A building with pointy roof, or with triangular or irregular aspects of their facade, then it can be considered as a fire-element building. It is good for those working or with business relating to energy, technology, food and beverage, real estate, construction, insurance, etc.

Building with its Floor Level Elemental Affinity
Choosing the Right Floor Level?
Having selecting the building, the next step is to ascertain which floor is best suitable for you and your family based on the elemental production cycle.

For high-rise building, each floor can be represented by an element based on the He-Tu Principle. This elemental representation for different floors is only applicable to high-rise buildings, like condominium, apartment, etc.

The elemental Supporting and Controlling Cycle
Using one of the earlier examples as an illustration, the fire-element building would best support fire and earth floor levels, which are ending with 0, 2, 5, 7. This means that floor level 2, 5, 7, 10, 12, 15, 17, etc.

On the other hand, as fire controls metal as well as water controls fire, you might want to avoid metal and water floor levels in a fire-element building, which are ending with 1, 4, 6 9. Hence, it best not to select floor levels 4, 6, 9, 11, 14, etc.

What’s next?
When you have identified the right building and a suitable floor level, then the next step is to ascertain a good home layout of the unit that could support the life goals and ambitions of yourself and the occupants, and of course choose your dream home right at the first time.
